How To Use The Navitas App:
Specification Sheet:
Should I Upgrade More Than Just the Controller?
Yes—when installing a Navitas controller, it’s essential to consider the entire power delivery system. Upgrading supporting components ensures safe, efficient, and optimized performance.
1. Solenoid
The solenoid acts as the main switch, delivering power from the battery to your Navitas controller.
-
We strongly recommend a minimum 200-amp solenoid.
-
For high-performance builds or hilly terrain, a 400-amp solenoid (like the one included in many kits) ensures long-term durability and reliable operation.
2. Wiring
Increased power demands require thicker, high-quality cables to prevent voltage drop and overheating.
-
Use at least 4 AWG wiring, though many premium kits include 2 AWG cables for maximum current flow and efficiency.
-
Upgrading your cable set reduces resistance and supports the full potential of your new controller and motor.
3. Pre-Charge Resistor & Coil Suppression Diode
These components protect your electrical system by limiting inrush current and suppressing electrical noise during solenoid activation. They are only required on specific vehicle types:
-
Series Drive Vehicles
-
Require a pre-charge resistor to protect the controller at startup.
-
-
EZGO DCS Vehicles
-
Require both a coil suppression diode and the OEM controller board.
-
You can identify these vehicles by their 10-pin controller connector.
